Mulled Wine is a winter drink and is traditionally served in the Northern Hemisphere at Christmas time. Often it is served to visiting carol singers along with mince pies.

Wine
2x75cl bottles of
red bordeaux (claret) wine
8-12 tablespoons of
brandy
2 clementines, halved
and studded with cloves
1 apple, cored and
sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
30g (1oz)soft dark
brown sugar
300ml (½pint)
water
Place all the ingredients
in a saucepan and heat gently for about 15 minutes. Keep a close eye on
the wine to ensure that the liquid does not boil. Serve when hot.
