Mulled Wine

Mulled Wine is a winter drink and is traditionally served in the Northern Hemisphere at Christmas time. Often it is served to visiting carol singers along with mince pies.

Mulled Wine
2x75cl bottles of red bordeaux (claret) wine
8-12 tablespoons of brandy
2 clementines, halved and studded with cloves
1 apple, cored and sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
30g (1oz)soft dark brown sugar
300ml (½pint) water

Place all the ingredients in a saucepan and heat gently for about 15 minutes. Keep a close eye on the wine to ensure that the liquid does not boil. Serve when hot.
